Golden State Family Services (GSFS) initially opened as a 501(c)(3) Foster Family Agency in Redding, CA, in 1996. The agency expanded opening its first office in the Central Valley in Visalia, CA, on April 1, 1997, headed by Executive Director/CEO, Micki Prins.
Throughout our years of operation in the Central Valley, Golden State Family Services has established themselves as a reliable agency dedicated to providing quality services to children in need. Golden State Family Services has foster homes throughout the Central Valley, servicing multiple counties within the state of California with offices located in Fresno and Tulare.
Our friendly and knowledgeable staff includes our Executive Director, Program Directors and other managerial staff, Social Workers, Family Development Staff, Human Resources Staff, Accounting Staff, and Support Staff. Our team works very hard to ensure Golden State Family Services is providing children and foster parents with the finest quality services and support..
We provide therapeutic case management services and treatment programs that are trauma informed and person centered for behaviorally disordered, abused and/or neglected children, ages 0-21 years through the person-centered perspective. This approach allows us to focus care on the needs of our youth while ensuring that their preferences, needs and values guide therapeutic decisions, and care that is respectful of and responsive to them.
Today, we have expanded our services to include; Full-Service Adoption, Fost-Adopt Services, Case Management, Independent Living Program, Intensive Services Foster Care (ISFC), Specialty Service Lines, and Youth Empowerment Groups.
Golden State Family Services is accredited by CARF International. Accreditation is a process that demonstrates a provider has met standards for the quality of its services.
For our performance measurement and management we do annual goal setting. Our current goals include ensuring our youth always feel safe in our homes and we have high participation rates in our youth psychoeducational groups.
